CSR Team Events

With economic uncertainty, problems with the Euro, rumours of a double dip recession many companies will revert to "preserve the cash" mode. Is Corporate Social Responsibility here to stay or will it be the first thing to go?

Companies facing tough decisions will often take the easiest route and postpone or cancel CSR activities that take their teams away from their core business. Those who are in it for the long haul may take a different approach and combine CSR activities with Team development- that can have a significant impact on the business.

This year Making the Link partnered with Cirencester Housing for Young People (CHYP) to offer a client an innovative approach to develop senior board members and have a positive charitable outcome. Senior European Directors for a huge multinational company spent three days in the Cotswolds- to take the team to the next level. The event was interesting and meaningful on so many levels- the directors working together engaged with the 6 young people housed by CHYP and redecorated their lounge and kitchen areas- in 24 hours.

So what are the benefits of a combined CSR and Team development experience?
1) Participants remember the challenges they met together- it's a shared experience
2) Workshop based development has a clearer point of reference and can be linked back to corporate challenges
3) There are clear charitable outcomes

In summary, despite the gloomy predictions for the economic future people are still going to need to get better at leading, working together, and delivering to tight deadlines- in fact, there will be more pressure to perform! CSR is here to stay.
